As part of the ICT education project, we continue to support robot programming education. Two years ago, KDDI Foundation hosted the first robot competition for our supporting schools. In February 2025, we upgraded it to a joint event with the Lalitpur Metropolitan City and held the second competition as the "Lalitpur Mayor's Cup". As with the first competition, students designed robots, assembled them on the spot, programmed them, and made them active. But this time, The difficulty level of the competition was set higher than last time. The robots ran through a maze divided by walls while detecting barriers with ultrasonic sensors attached to them and reached the goal. While some robots completed the course, others ran into walls and became unable to proceed, others lost their direction, but the students quickly found the problems and rectified the structure and programming in a short time. Seeing their enthusiastic efforts, we realized the achievements of programming education. President of KDDI Foundation and others presented medals and trophies to the schools with the best results, and all participants were given certificates to encourage their future activities. Later, we visited Mayor, Mr. Chiribabu Maharajan to report on the outcome of the robotics competition. The mayor expressed his gratitude for our efforts in helping the city since he aims at a cutting-edge city in Nepal, and we confirmed that we will continue to support the city in cooperation with the education authorities of the city.
