Pilot project of broadband Internet connections via satellite at villages along the border in Mongolia (2015)

In Mongolia, which has a vast territory, they have been building a backbone network with fibers. However, in villages along the border where nomadic tribes live, their locations are far from the connection points of the backbone network, and broadband Internet has not been realized. So, we introduced a pilot satellite-based broadband Internet connection, and verified whether the pilot connection could be used continuously, from the standpoints of both the technology and operational cost.

The villages where pilot connections were installed this time are the following three villages: Tsagaannuur in the northern mountainous area, Khatanbulag in the southern desert area, and Khalkhgol in the eastern plain area. With the opening of broadband Internet, further improvement is expected in public administration, education, and medical services. Also, they are considering further improvement and expansion in the future.
